Two days in counting! We have been working around the clock getting our new collection of Penny Royale Lingerie ready for the Valentines Trunk Show at Street Scene this Friday night. Last week I gave you guys a little sneak peak of what to expect. This week I thought I would tell you a little more about the Penny Royale line and how vintage styles have served as an inspiration for our creations. Styles of the 50's and 60's have always had an influence on my designs and not just lingerie but for dresses and swim wear as well. I consider the textiles and silhouettes of vintage clothing to be very alluring. A lot of the times I will even work with actually vintage fabrics, I have accumulated quite a collection over the years from friends and family members. It's my way of being green and giving new life to a textile that has been left to waist.
Here is my favorite example of what I have done in the past to incorporate vintage fabrics and styles into my designs. These photo was used in the July 2011 issue of Sophisticated Living Magazine. (Photo by Andrew Kung Photography, Model: Catherine Jones, MUA: Heather "PINK" Davis) I love telling people that this swim suit was once a an unattractive stretchy evening gown from the 80's. It brings me great joy to introduce this textile in a new and more fabulous way!

But for Penny Royale, we have found other ways to still be sustainable while using new fabrics that still capture that vintage feel we love. Our new collection we are working organic cotton blended with soy and bamboo. The texture is SO soft and the colors this spring are vibrant and feminine. Plus Laura Kirkpatrick has given us the most adorable vintage inspired floral print to work with for this collection! I don't want to give too much away because I really want to see you guys this Friday and be pleasantly surprised with what you see, but I will let you know you will be seeing some high waist styles inspired by our love for vintage.
Ok, I will share this much with you all, just because I am so proud of our artist Laura Kirkpatrick for her really cool print! Enjoy this preview and I will see you all this Friday!
