Moonrise Kingdom

This weekend I got to check out the new Wes Anderson movie "Moonrise Kingdom," and I fell in love.  Set in the summer of 1965 in New England (that is enough to make me love any movie), it is a simple story of two 12-year-old misfits who runaway together and fall in love.  It is both hilarious and heart-warming, and I loved every second.  One of my favorite parts of the movie was recognizing all kinds of fabulous vintage housewares, clothes, and furniture.  I had seen many of the items in Street Scene or other antique/vintage shops before.  I've included some of my favorite still shots from the movie below:
The two main characters of the movie with all their "running away" equipment including tons of vintage goodies like a portable record player, bright yellow suitcase, and basket purse.
Both characters wear the same outfits throughout the majority of the movie, Sam in his fabulously retro khaki-scout uniform, and Suzy in her adorable salmon colored mini-dress, knee socks, and saddle shoes.  Towards the end of the movie she adds the cutest matching coat and beret to her outfit!
Suzy's house is one of my favorite parts of the movie.  It is perfect New England vintage style with bright red paint on the outside and matching red and white striped awnings.  The inside is full of dark woods, plaids, and nautical prints.  There are tons of cute little nooks, stairways, and hideaways in the house too!
Had to show a close up of these amazing sailboat curtains!
Another view of the house and some of its neat stairways and hallways.

Edward Norton as Scout Master Ward in his perfectly vintage tent.  Notice the deer painting in the background and that great vintage robe!

A few of Suzy's favorite things: saddle shoes, her binoculars, and a portable record player.

Throughout the entire movie, Bill Murray is dressed in super preppy madras and plaids.

I really want to visit New England even more now after seeing this movie.  Here's Suzy atop the cutest lighthouse with her beloved binoculars.
