The Equestrian Look

I didn't grow up riding horses or knowing a single thing about them, but having a husband whose entire family works in the horse industry has quickly thrown me into the equestrian world.  Even though I still rarely know what my husband's family is talking about half of the time at the dinner table,  I am trying to learn as much as I can to catch up.  Recently I have started incorporating some equestrian items into my home decor and have become quite obsessed with searching for equestrian inspiration rooms.  Living in the horse capital of the world, it is luckily very easy to get my hands on all kinds of horse pictures, clothing, accessories, and decor!  I love the preppy yet rustic style these pieces add to any space.  With the Kentucky Derby just days away I thought I would share some of my favorite equestrian looks!
A great collection of vintage equestrian memorabilia including riding hats, ribbons, and photos.  I love the dark brown walls with bright white beadboard trim, a color most would usually steer away from blends perfectly in this space

I am completely in love with this wallpaper.  The furniture in the photo gives it a more modern look, but you could also use this in a very girly space or more traditional room as well.

This giant black dresser with gold hardware is the perfect statement piece for any equestrian room.  I love the way it looks with distressed white wood paneling and preppy plaid wallpaper!

This 1930's tire ad would look awesome framed in a equestrian room! I love the bright colors!

These pants are the BEST! An amazing traditional equestrian print and perfect flattering cut from Honor NYC.

 I NEED this shirt.

I love this bright kelly green in equestrian spaces.  Silver julep cups or trophy cups are a fabulous equestrian accessory to add to your decor.  They look great bunched together or filled with bright flowers.

Another bright green space mixed with traditional furniture and plenty of horse antiques.

This pretty white stairway feels so open and airy.  The collection of traditional horse prints look great on a plain white wall and the brass light fixture with kelly green shade adds a perfect pop of color to this neutral space.
You can find horse printed skirts like these all over local thrift stores.  These prints were very popular in the late 80s-90s and now can be updated by hemming or pairing them with modern, young tops and accessories.

An amazing equestrian bar nook complete with a place for your pup!

I love this look of this over-the-top display piled with everything from ribbons, to horse prints, to trophies.  The green background makes everything pop, and the bright ribbons and horse head give the space a whimsical flair.  I also love the blue and white china for an unexpected pop of color.

I love the antique look of this horse wallpaper.  It looks like pages ripped out of an old book lined up together and is perfect for more traditional spaces.
