I hope your week is off to a good start!
Everyone knows around Christmas time they can come to Street Scene to find new productions of timeless toys (Silly Putty, Hairy Harriet, Ice Cream Shooters…) Well we have recently decided to start carrying some of everyone’s timeless favorites year round!
Currently we have these great bags of assorted Marbles, Miniature Slinkys, Cats Cradle and Parachuting Army Men. While we just have a few right now, we plan to be adding more!
All this talk about toys around the store has me thinking about what toys really stick out to me from my childhood. The one that sticks out the most to me is the Chinese Jump Rope. I can remember being just a little thing, about 4 or 5 years old, placing one end of it under our kitchen chair legs, and my mom at the other end jumping in, out and around for hours. Growing older, kitchen chairs were replaced by neighborhood friends. Another toy that vividly sticks out to me are Jacks, while I never understood the point of it and mostly liked seeing how high I could bounce the ball, or seeing if I could get one of my pesky brothers to step on a jack, I was very fond of the idea of it. I would play with my mom’s childhood Jacks that had this really amazing miniature suitcase they packed away in.
What were some of your favorite childhood toys?
Until next time.
